We lucked out for the first installment of the
Brrr Bones Trial held in November. It was run on a nice, large field
next to the Couch’s place on Red Top Road in Caldwell, Idaho.
Saturday was as gorgeous a winter day as we could ask for, sunny and
in the low 40s. The fog didn’t set in until Sunday morning and it
burned off by early afternoon, leaving us with sunny 40s to end a
fun and stress-free weekend.
I personally liked the “minimalist” aspect of this trial, the
atmosphere felt more like a fun trial, but still competitive because
of a modest payout and the USCBHA points at stake. Handlers brought
their own lattes and in between runs, ran and grabbed a lunch. Set
up took less than a couple of hours and tear down around an hour.
The work crew was home by 5pm!
If any of you would like to put together a trial like this, your
local ISDA club is here to help. Winter is the perfect time of year
for this type of trial. All you need to provide is a field and a
good bunch of sheep. Equipment and labor can come to you. If you
think this is something you would like to do, call your ISDA
President, Ray Crabtree, 208-562-1215, and he can give you any
information you might need.
